Wendell, winner of the 2014 Toulon Tournament, has become one of the most important players for Bayer Leverkusen (7th of the German league) since joining the club in 2014 from the Brazilian side Gremio. Thanks to his pace and his seemingly endless stamina, the Brazil U21 international is reliable in both attack and defense. This season, Wendell has been an ever present for Leverkusen as he played 36 games in all competitions with the Bundesliga outfit.
At the end of this current campaign with Bayer Leverkusen, the Brazilian left full-back will be focused on the 2016 Olympic Games held in his native country during the next summer. Unless something unexpected happens, Wendell will play the Olympics and will have the opportunity to represent his country in one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
