During the quarter-finals several Maurice Revello Tournament former players have shone. Recap !

Japon – Indonesia : 2-0

The title holders Japan have secured once again a spot for the World Cup U20 as they have beaten the country host Indonesia front on 60 000 fans at Stadion Utama Gelora Bung Karno (Jakarta).

Without their starlet Egy Vikri (the Maurice Revello Tournament 2017 breakthrough player), the Indonesians couldn’t find the net while the Samuraï Blue were quite accurate in this area.

Just before the half time, Shunki Higashi netted the opener thanks to a stunning shot from distance. Then, with twenty minutes remaining, Taisei Miyashiro scored his fourth goal in this competition and sealed the win. In the semi-finals, Japan will face the Saudi Arabians who have eliminated Australia (3-1).

Qatar – Thaïland : 7-3

The Qatarians are truly unpredictable ! After an unbelievable 6-5 win over Indonesia during the group stage, the team led by Bruno Pinheiro has once again offered to us a thrilling game.

After only twenty minutes, Qatar took a two-goal-advantage thanks to Hashim Ali (fifth goal in this competition) and Nasser Al Yazidi, who both played the Maurice Revello Tournament 2018. However, Thailand came from behind and even took the lead in the second half. Eventually, Ahmed Suhail fired a great free-kick to level the scores in the last minutes of the game.
The winner had to be decided during the extra time and Qatar stole the show during these additional thirty minutes as they scored four goals thanks to Umaru, Mansour, Umaru and Ayman.

Corée du Sud – Tajikistan : 1-0

After scoring two goals during the group stage, Jeon Se-Jin made the headlines again as he netted the winner after 44 minutes. Enough to secure a World Cup U20 spot for his country !
