Tuesday saw the final day of Group A, with two matches on the program. The first pitted two teams with very different records against each other. South Korea, with 3 defeats in as many matches, had little left to play for before Friday's classification match. For Mexico, the aim was to take second place from France, so as to be in with a chance of a match for third place. In Fos-sur-Mer, the two teams battled it out for 90 minutes. But when the final whistle blew, neither team had the upper hand. In the penalty shoot-out, Mexico came out on top, winning 5-3.
