Between France and Brazil, it is a old story. In sixteen confrontations since 1930, a sports rivalry was born between both squads. French and Brazilians faced four times during historical World Cups games. From 1958 and the win of the Seleçao (5-2) to 2006 and the French victory (1-0), through the historical quarter final won by Les Bleus after the penalty shootout on 1986 (1-1, 4-3 ps) and the famous 1998 final (3-0), each game marked some generations and stay today in the memories.

Jean-Christophe Bahebeck and Marquinhos during the 2014 final

On 2014, the Tournament had the honour to host a memorable France-Brazil game. In final at Parc des Sports of Avignon, Les Bleuets and the Seleçao offered a thrilling and fantastic game to the 5.000 spectators. As they showed during their path before the final.

French and Brazilians impressed everybody during the group round. After a win over Chile for their first game (3-0) and a draw against China (1-1), Ludovic Batelli's men clinched the first spot and get their ticket for the semi-finals by toping Mexico (2-0) and Portugal (2-1). On their side, Brazilians shined and showed an outstanding attacking power by hammering South Korea (2-0), Colombia (2-1), England (2-1) and Qatar (7-0).

With several future international players like Marquinhos, Douglas SantosEderson or Rodrigo Caio, the Seleçao could count on many young talents. As France, led by Adrien Rabiot, Tiemoue BakayokoJordan Amavi or Benjamin Bourigeaud. All of them faced the 1st June in Avignon to clinch the 42th edition of the Maurice Revello Tournament.

The scoresheet of the Brazil-France final

As expected, the final was intense and started strongly. Jean-Christophe Bahebeck gave the lead to France after six minutes on a penalty, before Alisson equalized two minutes later. Bahebeck striked back and hit again with a powerful shot from outside of the box to give the lead again to Les Bleuets. But Ademilson put his name on the scoresheet for the equalizer. Four goals in thirty minutes : both teams fought back.

And at this little game, Brazil was stronger. Alexandre Gallo's players dominated the second half. Thanks to Marquinhos (46'), Ademilson for a brace (64') and Thalles (69'), the Seleçao took a three goals advantage (5-2), won the competition for the eighth times and retained their title clinched on 2013. At this day, this is the last Brazil's title during the Maurice Revello Tournament and one of the most spectacular finals in history.
