The first edition of the Sud Ladies Cup will gather France, Germany, USA and Haiti from 5th to 10th June. All these nations perfectly know each others, as they already faced several times last months. Full recap of the previous confrontations.
They know each others by heart. Before to be confronted during the Sud Ladies Cup, U20 French, Germans, Americans and Haitians already met many times recently.
At the beggining of March 2018, France and USA U20 women's squad faced twice in three days in Brittany.
Americans won the first leg the 3rd March 2018 in Vannes. Despite their good display, Les Bleuettes couldn't find the net and lost after a goal from Brianna Pinto (0-1).
Both teams faced again three days later in Saint-Malo. After they conceded the first goal by Smith, France equalized thanks to Katoto before to take the lead after Gago scored. But they finally failed their revenge quest, as Smith offered herself a brace during the ten last minutes. Final result, 2-2.
Revelation of the U20 CONCACAF, Haiti reached the semi-final of the competition beside huge nations as Mexico or United States. The Haitian faced the Americans in semi-final and kept surprising everybody. After USA took the lead thanks to Howell just before the last quarter, they managed to equalize at the end of the additional time by Mondesir and pushed USA to the penalty shoot-out. But Marc Collat's girls collapsed and lost the shoot-out after they missed their first three shots ! The Americans won 3-0 and qualified for the final. Haiti qualified for the U20 World Cup in France in August thanks to their third place during the U20 CONCACAF.
Friendly competition in Spain, La Manga Tournament saw France, USA and Germany facing each others on March 2017. French and Americans were already opponents. Like on 2018, the Americans won the game 2-0.
Two days later, USA faced Germany in a classic game between two big women football nations. A game won by Maren Meinert's girls (2-1).
During the last U20 Women World Cup in Papouasia in November 2016, French and Americans were in the same group during the first round. As on 2017 and 2018, Les Bleuettes couldn't beat a solid USA squad. This 14th November 2016, both squad separated on a draw (0-0).
Despite this result, France qualified for the next round. In quarter final, they played against Germany, world champion, in Sir John Guise Stadium of Port Moresby the 25th November. Not impressed at all, French players accomplished an amazing display and beat the title holders. Thanks to Delphine Cascarino, they won 1-0 and reached the semi-finals, and then the final, that they lost against North Korea.
In September 2016, French and Germans faced each others in a preparation game for the U20 women World Cup two months later. In Dusseldorf, Maren Meinert's players took a two goals lead thanks to a Stefanie Sanders' brace (47' and 61'). But Les Bleuettes didn't give up. Marie-Antoinette Katoto shined and also scored a brace, permitting her team to equalize (76' and 84'). France clinched a good draw in Germany before the World Cup.
