Cristiano Ronaldo was named Ballon d’Or 2016 ahead of Leo Messi and Antoine Griezmann. The Portuguese forward clinches the trophy for the fourth time in his career as he already won it in 2008, 2013 and 2014.
The 31-year-old forward was rewarded for his individual performances as well as for his collective titles. The Portuguese star helped Real Madrid to earn their 11th Champions League title as he has finished as the competition’s top scorer with 16 goals in 12 games. Few weeks later, Cristiano Ronaldo has won the Euro 2016 with Portugal, which is the first major trophy claimed by his national team. The Real Madrid player has had a huge impact during the competition as he delivered 3 assists and netted 3 goals including a crucial goal against Wales (2-0) in the semi-finals.
