The Toulon Tournament’s fans have discovered him in 2015, the European football enthusiasts become aware of his talent. Since joining in February from Tout Puissant Mazembé (DR Congo), Roger Assalé is impressing with Young Boys Bern.

Used as a winger or a centre-forward, the 23-year-old has produced a tremendous start to the season with the current Swiss League leaders. The Ivory Coast international (9 caps) has already netted 11 goals in 21 games in all competitions. He has notably made the headlines few weeks ago after the stunner scored against Saint-Gallen (6-1).

Meanwhile, Assalé has also distinguished himself on the European scene as he scored 3 goals in as many Europa League games including a brace against Dynamo Kiev (2-2).

His performances with Young Boys caught the eye of Marc Wilmots, the Ivory Coast head coach. The African Champions League 2015 winner has been handed his first start for Ivory Coast in two years during the World Cup 2018 qualifier played on this month against Mali (0-0).
