Every international break is an opportunity for several talents who have played in the Maurice Revello Tournament to have their baptism of fire in the national team. The last few days have been no exception. Here's the lowdown.
Warren Zaïre-Emery (France)
The midfielder, who has made a sparkling start to the season with Paris Saint-Germain, received his first call-up to the France senior squad at the November international break. The player who took part in the Maurice Revello Tournament in 2023 was even given a starting berth for his debut against Gibraltar (14-0), becoming at 17 years and 255 days the youngest player in Les Bleus' history since 1914. It was an emotional evening for the PSG player, as he even scored a goal in his first match... before being forced off the pitch injured in the act of scoring.
Paulinho (Brazil)
Four years after his participation in the Maurice Revello Tournament, the attacking midfielder finally experienced his first cap with the Seleção. After coming on as a substitute against Colombia (1-2), the Atlético Mineiro player played just over 20 minutes, but was unable to prevent his team from going down to defeat.
Thomas Chory (Czech Republic)
It was a debut he will long remember. In his first cap for the Czech Republic, the striker has experienced it all. Starting against Moldova (3-0), the Viktoria Plzen player celebrated his debut in the best possible way by scoring a goal. It was a double delight for the man who took part in the Tournament in 2016, as this success means that the Czechs have a ticket to Euro 2024.
Ahmed Al-Rawi (Qatar)
From the Maurice Revello Tournament to the national team in just a few months. Like Warren Zaïre-Emery, the Qatari striker also experienced his first senior cap just a few weeks after playing in the Tournament. After coming on as a substitute against Afghanistan (8-1), the Al-Rayyan player played his first minutes for his country.
Joao Pedro Silva (Guinea-Bissau)
The 27-year-old striker, who had already been called up for the previous round-up, made his first official appearance for the senior national team during this one. Playing against Djibouti (1-0), the player from Greek club Panaitolikos celebrated his debut in the national team with a victory. A fine reward for the player who took part in the Maurice Revello Tournament in 2016 in the colours of... Portugal.
