The U20 Women’s World Cup is held in France from 5th to 24th August. It should be noted that 64 players who took part in the Sud Ladies Cup compete in the World Cup. Throughout the competition, we will take look at their performances !
Netherlands – France : 0-4
France needed a win to claim the top spot of the group and Les Bleuettes reached their aim as they hammered Netherlands ! The FC Metz youngster Amélie Delabre netted a hat-trick while Emelyne Laurent confirmed her good form as she netted a goal and delivered an assist. In the quarter-finals, the team led by Gilles Eyquem will face the title holders North Korea.
Standings Group A : France 7 pts, Netherlands 6 pts, Ghana 3 pts, New Zealand 1 pt.
Spain – United States : 2-2
The three-time World Cup U20 winners United States faced an unexpected group stage exit after being held to a draw by Spain. Team USA can regret the mistakes made in the first half : Guijarro benefited from a Howell’s bad clearance to break the deadlock after seven minutes only. Just before the half time, Garcia doubled the lead, helped by a huge mistake made by the goalkeeper Ivory.
In the second half, USA levelled the scores thanks to goals from Sophia Smith and Savannah Smith but It wasn’t enough as United States needed at least a win to advance to the next round.
USA face a group stage exit for the first time in history…

Germany – Haiti : 3-2
Three wins in as many games : the Gemans met the expectations. Germany had a three-goal lead on the hour mark thanks to goals from Freigang, Kogel and Buhl. Enough for the Europeans to clinch the win despite a brace scored by the Haitian striker Mondésir in the last minutes of the game.
