On the occasion of its 50th edition, which will take place from 3 to 16 June 2024, the Maurice Revello Tournament is opening its history book. Since it was founded in 1967, the competition has seen many talented players. More than 2,000 have gone on to become senior internationals, and some of them have written football history. To celebrate its anniversary, the Tournament is updating its top 100, created in 2017. Until 29 March, our website will be displaying the updated rankings of the 100 greatest players to have taken part in the Tournament. And it starts today, with the rankings from 100th to 96th place.

100th : Gregory Coupet (France) - 1994

Alongside Robert Pires, Johan Micoud and Vincent Candela, Gregory Coupet took part in the 1994 tournament. Beaten in the semi-finals by Portugal, Les Bleus finished third. With just 2 goals conceded in 4 matches, Coupet was voted best goalkeeper. The launch of a rich career. After a spell with ASSE, he went on to win seven consecutive French league titles with Lyon. He won 34 caps for France, including the 2002 and 2006 World Cups and the 2004 and 2008 Euros.

99th : Diego Ribas (Brazil) - 2002

In 2002, Brazil won the tournament with a dream team: Daniel Alves, Adriano, Maxwell and... Diego. The elegant Brazilian playmaker was just a young player at Santos FC at the time, but it wasn't long before he was making a name for himself. His talent on the ball soon took him to Europe, where he shone for FC Porto, Werder Bremen, Juventus and Atlético Madrid, winning seven titles in all. An Olympic champion with Brazil, he also won two Copa America titles in his 34 appearances for the Seleção.

98th : Reece James (England) - 2017 & 2019

He is just 24 years old, but his career has already got off to a good enough start to include him in this ranking. The England right-back has taken part in the Tournament twice, including victoriously in 2017 under his current senior coach Gareth Southgate. Named in the 2017 tournament best XI, his performances helped him earn a place at Chelsea, where the competition is fierce. With the Blues, he won the Champions League in 2021. He earned 16 caps for England, with whom he reached the final of Euro 2020.

97th : Raul Meireles (Portugal) - 2003

The 2003 edition of the Maurice Revello Tournament was a historic one. Won by Portugal, it saw the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Javier Mascherano and... Raul Meireles. The Portuguese midfielder was one of the key members of the winning team. Named second best player of the tournament, Raul Meireles saw his career take another turn after this distinction. He joined FC Porto in 2004, where he won 10 titles, before going on to play for Chelsea and Liverpool. His international career was equally impressive, with 76 caps for Portugal.

96th : Steve Mandanda (France) - 2005

In 2005, the French team won the Maurice Revello Tournament. Managed by René Girard, the French side conceded just 3 goals during the competition, thanks in part to their goalkeeper. Named best goalkeeper of the Tournament, Steve Mandanda was a young prospect from Le Havre at the time. In 2007, he joined Olympique de Marseille, where he became the most capped player in the club's history with 613 appearances.
