On the occasion of its 50th edition, which will take place from 3 to 16 June 2024, the Maurice Revello Tournament is opening its history book. Since it was founded in 1967, the competition has seen many talented players. More than 2,000 have gone on to become senior internationals, and some of them have written football history. To celebrate its anniversary, the Tournament is updating its top 100, created in 2017. Until 29 March, our website will be displaying the updated rankings of the 100 greatest players to have taken part in the Tournament. And it continues today, with the rankings from 95th to 91st place.

95th : Franck Kessie (Ivory Coast) - 2015

The Maurice Revello Tournament is reputed to be a career accelerator, and Franck Kessie won't deny it. In 2015, the midfielder took part in the competition with Ivory Coast while still playing in the Ivorian league. Following his participation in the Tournament, he moved to Europe and Atalanta Bergamo, where he shone for two seasons before being recruited by AC Milan, with whom he won the Scudetto in 2022. A Spanish league champion with Barça the following season, he now has 73 caps for Ivory Coast senior national team.

94th : Paulo Ferreira (Portugal) - 2000

Unlucky finalists in the Tournament in 2000, Portugal are one of the major nations in the history of the Tournament. Many Lusitanian players have shone on the grounds of Provence. Among them was Paulo Ferreira. Now retired, the right-back can boast over 100 appearances for FC Porto and more than 200 for Chelsea. Among the 17 trophies he won with these two clubs were two Champions League titles. Ferreira has also pulled on the shirt of his national team 62 times.

93th : Shinji Kagawa (Japan) - 2007

Of all the Japanese players to have taken part in the tournament, he is without doubt the most iconic. In 2007, Shinji Kagawa took part in the competition while still playing for Cerezo Osaka in the local league. It was only three years after his participation that he headed for Europe and Borussia Dortmund, where he won six trophies, including two Bundesliga titles. Having also played for Manchester United, the Japanese attacking midfielder has 97 caps to his name, including an Asian Cup triumph in 2011.

92th : Hector Herrera (Mexico) - 2012

2012 was a golden year for Mexico. Two months after winning the Tournament in June, the Mexican national team became Olympic champions in London, thanks in no small part to their preparation at the Tournament. Among them was Hector Herrera. The energic midfielder is a leader of this highly talented team. A year after that fine summer, he joined FC Porto, where in six seasons he made 245 appearances and won three trophies. With the Mexican national team, he has 104 caps to his name, including winning the Gold Cup in 2015.

91st : Kalidou Koulibaly (France) - 2011

Some players take part in the Tournament with one country, before opting for a different national team during their career. Such is the case of Kalidou Koulibaly. In 2011, the centre-back was a runner-up in the Maurice Revello Tournament with France. But it is with Senegal that he will continue his international career. Winner of the African Cup of Nations in 2022 with the Lions of Teranga, he offered his national team the first trophy in its history. Koulibaly also shone at club level, and remains a Napoli legend with over 300 appearances to his name.
