The 2024 winter mercato ended this Thursday in most countries in the world. A number of players who have taken part in the Sud Ladies Cup have been involved in the various deals signed around the world over the last few days. Here's the summary.

As in every winter window, a number of clubs attempted to strengthen their squads as the second half of the season got underway. More than fifteen of these moves involved former participants in the Sud Ladies Cup.

After three seasons with the Washington Spirit, Ashley Sanchez is set to continue her career in the USA. The player who came through the Sud Ladies Cup in 2018 is joining North Carolina Courage following the 2024 draft organised by the National Women Soccer League. Having scored 13 goals in 68 appearances for her previous club, the American midfielder is continuing her impressive rise, and has also been a senior international since 2011 (27 caps).

Less than a year after being named the best player in the 2023 Sud Ladies Cup, Momoko Tanikawa's story continues. The Japanese player has officially signed for Bayern Munich and will be loaned out to Swedish club Rosengard until next summer. “Momoko Tanikawa is one of the best young players in the world, said Francisco De Sa Fardilha, FC Bayern Women technical director. She’s already a big part of the Japan national team, one of the best teams in the world. Momoko is technically very versatile, is two-footed. She knows how she can come out on top against top players and is very flexible in her position. Although she’s an attacking midfielder, she can play in any position up front, including as a centre-forward.”

From the academy to Feyenoord Rotterdam. Toko Koga is about to take the plunge. The Japanese player who played in the Sud Ladies Cup in 2023 is joining the Eredivise club, where she will be enjoying her first professional experience, having previously played for the JFA Academy Fukushima football team.

In other notable transfers, Mexican striker Alison Gonzalez joins Tigres from Club America. American Ally Sentnor has been drafted first overall by Utah Royals. Finally, French duo Baby Jordy Benera and Océane Toussaint have signed for AS Saint-Etienne and Le Havre respectively.
