A few weeks before its 47th edition, from 1st to 15th June, the Maurice Revello Tournament goes back in time. Since 1967, thousands of players have trodden the Festival’s pitches. Among them, nearly 2000 became international within the sixty-five different nations who have taken part in the competition. To travel through the Tournament’s fifty years of history, each one marked by some famous football players at their debuts, we have imagined twelve dream teams, country by country. Seventh best XI, Brazil.

Claudio Taffarel (1987) : The Brazilian was just a young goalkeeper when he competed in the Maurice Revello Tournament 1987, during which he was named as the best goalkeeper. During his career, he played for Parma and Galatasaray, winning an UEFA Cup and two Turkish Leagues. Under the Auriverde shirt, he also won the World Cup 1994 and two Copa America in 101 caps, which establish him as the most-capped goalkeeper in Seleção history.

Cafu (1990) : One of the greatest full-backs in the football history took part in the Maurice Revello Tournament in 1990. He is world double champion (1994 and 2002) and also the most-capped player in the Brazil history with 142 caps. Under the São Paulo, Roma and AC Milan shirts, he won more than twenty titles, including two Copa Libertadores (1992, 1993) with the Brazilian club and a Champions League (2005) with the Rossoneri.

Carlos Mozer (1980, 1981) : The defender is one of the rare players to have won the Maurice Revello Tournament twice in a row (1980, 1981). After seven seasons and more than 300 games with Flamengo, he became an emblematic Benfica and Olympique de Marseille player, where he respectively featured during five and three years, enough to be double Portugal champion and triple France champion.

Marcio Santos (1990) : The defender took part in the Maurice Revello Tournament in 1990. He started then a world tour, begun in Brazil and gone through France, Italy, Netherlands, China and Bolivia. He was called-up 40 times and won the World Cup 1994 and the Copa America 1997.

Daniel Alves (2002) : When he won the Maurice Revello Tournament in 2002, the right-back was surely not thinking that this title would be the first of a… 39-trophies list ! Champions League, Club World Cup, national leagues, national cups, Copa America, Confederations Cup… The 107-caps man, the third most-capped player in Seleção history, almost won everything.

Fernandinho (2004) : The midfielder participated in the Maurice Revello Tournament 2004, during which he won the most beautiful goal title. Then, he was six times Ukraine champion and won the UEFA Cup 2009 under the Shakhtar Donetsk colors. He joined Manchester City, where he add to his titles list two Premier League (2014, 2018) and four League Cups (2014, 2016, 2018, 2019).

Mazinho (1987) : The gifted midfielder made his debut in national team during the Maurice Revello Tournament 1987. He played for Fiorentina, Valencia and Celta Vigo and won the World Cup 1994 and the Copa America 1989 in 35 caps with Seleção.

Juninho (1995) : One of the best free-kicks takers in the football history won the Maurice Revello Tournament in 1995. After he also clinched the Copa Libertadores with Vasco de Gama in 1998, he joined Lyon, where he became a really legend by being seven times in a row France champion and scoring 100 goals in 344 games.

Diego (2002) : The elegant attacking midfielder won the Maurice Revello Tournament 2002. He began then his Europe tour in Porto before to join Werder Bremen, Juventus, Wolfsburg, Atletico Madrid and Fenerbahçe. In 34 caps, he won two Copa America in 2004 and 2007.

Leonardo (1990) : Before becoming a famous player and club executive, the midfielder participated in the Maurice Revello Tournament 1990. He won three national titles : two in Brazil with Flamengo (1987) and São Paulo (1991) and a Scudetto with AC Milan (1999). In 60 caps with Seleção, he was world champion in 1994 and South America champion in 1997.

Adriano (2002) : The striker, who won the Maurice Revello Tournament in 2002, impressed by his power and his technical abilities. He confirmed his qualities during his career, especially with Inter, as he won four Serie A titles between 2005 and 2008. He was also Brazil champion with three different clubs and won the Copa America in 2004.
