Promoted to the the Division 1 following a stunning 2017-2018 campaign, FC Metz faced a very tough French top-flight return as they have lost their first seven league games and scored only one goal during this period.
A difficult start to the season followed fortunately by an upturn in form as Les Grenats earned ten points in their last four games.
One player symbolizes this resurgence : Lea Khelifi. Brilliant during the Sud Ladies Cup 2018 (three assists), the France U20 International has shone on November. She scored three goals in as many games. The goalscoring streak began against Rodez (3-2) and continued with goals against both Paris FC (2-2) and Lille (2-0).
Not selected for the U20 World Cup, the 19-year-old midfielder seems to have digest this disappointment like illustrated by her playing time (10 games started in 11 league appearances) and her status of FC Metz’s top scorer (3 goals).
